Canaan Community Church WORLD MISSIONS

Rom 10:14
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

- The CHURO SCHOOL -
This is a Christian secondary school in Kenya that relies on
contributions to provide an education to poor students. We
support the education of students as they study at the school. It
is under the Africa Inland Mission. Most Kenyan families are very
poor and cannot afford to provide a good education like this for
their children.

JIM and PHYLLIS COOK
They work in Colorado on college campuses. Their agency
is InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, but Jim's ministry is not in
regular campus student evangelism. He works with Christian
college professors and leaders. He helps them to feel
connected to others who don't follow the usual anti-God
mentality found in colleges and universities today. In his
leadership position in IVCF Faculty Ministries, Jim sets up
workshops and seminars to teach Christian faculty to minister
to their colleagues and students in the university setting.

. - MIKE and RENEE DeLORENZO -
Mike is a pilot and aircraft mechanic who is based in Kenya
and flies to many places in East Africa. Missionary aircraft
are the lifeline for missionaries that work in remote places.
Rather than traveling for days over roads that are not much
more than rutty paths to get from one place to another,
missionaries can go by airplane in four hours. This is
especially critical when there is a medical emergency or civil
unrest requiring evacuation from a country.

SIMON and MARGARET MUHOTA
Simon Muhota has set up a recording studio that has sound
recording and playback tools. The equipment is used to
produce good quality Christian programming to broadcast to
the people of Kenya and surrounding areas. They have

transmitting equipment and operate their own Christian radio
station. This important ministry allows people of East Africa
to hear the message of the gospel and to be discipled. He
also pastors a church and does youth work and men's
discipleship. Margaret works with school children explaining
how to avoid the AIDS epidemic.

HAP and GLADYS SKINNER
For most of their lives, their work has been in Papua New Guinea.
Wycliffe Bible Translators create written languages for the verbal
languages spoken by people groups all over the world and then
translate the Bible into those languages. Hap's job in PNG was to
create airstrips in remote areas, to allow translators to get
themselves and their supplies into the villages. Now in semi
retirement in Australia.

JONATHAN and JODI THAR
They are currently on their second term in Hong Kong. Following
several years of total immersion in the culture, they have moved
from their apartment just north of Kowloon city to work in a new
church plant closer to the mainland China border. Jonathan, an
ordained minister, and Jodi are in Christian youth work and doing
evangelism in their neighborhood. Socializing with neighbors is
an important part of evangelism. Jonathan also preaches at the
new church, which has been growing . Many of the people they
minister to have come from the mainland, looking for a better life
in Hong Kong.

- TORCH KITS -
Torch Kits are used in many parts of the world to share the
Gospel. The idea is simple in that it uses old fashioned, by our
standards, 35mm film strips to tell the story of a person that has
found the Savior. The projector has a 12 volt bulb in it so it can
be operated from a car or motorcycle battery wherever they can
go in remote areas.
