WeddingsThis section concerns only the use of the facilities for weddings and/or receptions. The overall procedures and policies for weddings are included in the document “Wedding Information”, Appendix E. 1. Use of The facility is requested by completing a “Facility Use Request” form (by Facility Coordinator. 2. The date will not be held until the request is deemed acceptable to Canaan Church and the deposit is made. 3. Saturday weddings should be planned so the building will be free by 8:00 p.m. All other days will be 9:00pm 4. A fee will be charged for use of the facility and includes: the sanctuary, narthex, dressing rooms and rest rooms,which will be the only parts of the building available. The nursery will not be available. Any other use requires Governing Board approval. 5. A fee will be charged for the use of the services. a. custodial b. light and sound technician c. Facility coordinator For itemized breakdown refer to Appendix D1. 6. The fee amounts are set by the Governing Board. 7. Flat rate Wedding fees are for a building opened to building vacated, maximum time of eight hours that includes ceremony, practice, and preparation. Longer times will incur additional fees. For itemized breakdown refer to Appendix D1. 8. If balances are not paid two weeks before the wedding, the facility is subject to reassignment, without return of the deposit. 9. All music should be in keeping with the dignity and nature of the wedding ceremony and is subject to the Pastor’s approval. 10. None except ceremonial food or drink used by the bride, groom or minister allowed in the sanctuary. 11. All provisions of Sections 1, 3 through 5 of the Building Use Policy must be followed to the extent that the wedding party affects various areas of the facility. Tax laws will be observed when remunerating workers, In case of ministry concerns, waiving or adjustment of fees may be done at the descretion of the Pastor or consensus of the Elders. (Our Church Constitution says an Active Member is a member who regularly attends the services of the Church and who gives financial support to the Church.)
A. The facility, or portions of it, may be reserved by Active Members of the church for activities not sponsored directly by the Church. (Our Church Constitution says an Active Member is a member who regularly attends the services of the Church and who gives financial support to the Church.) They will be charged for the use of the facilities, and are responsible for the custodial fee, as well as the cost of a light and sound technician (if required). The custodial fee or other required service fees will be a minimum of 2 hours. B. The facility may be reserved, subject to sponsorship by an active member and Governing Board approval, for community service. Examples of this are for municipal elections or non-profit personal development groups. C. Others may have use of the facility, subject to sponsorship by an active member and Governing Board approval. D. The sponsor of an activity is responsible for the following in areas used: 1. Put back all furniture and furnishings that were moved. 2. Sweep hard surfaced floors and mop if soiled. 3. Vacuum carpets and spot clean if soiled. 4. Remove all trash you have created throughout the church and place in the dumpster at the south end of the building. 5. Pick up all trash in the parking lot. 6. Sweep and mop the kitchen floor. 7. Clean all tables, counter tops and sinks. 8. Do not leave any food behind. 9. Turn off all small appliances, unplug coffee pots. 10. Wipe refrigerator clean (inside and out). 11. Leave the facility in a condition to require the minimum of custodial attention. E. In addition, all provisions of Sections 3, 4 and 5 of this Building Use Policy must be followed. F. The sponsor of the event must arrange for an Authorized member to open and close the building. H. Activities that will precede a regular church activity by less than a day must be coordinated with the custodian. If the date and time is available, ministries of the church can have use of the facility by completing a “Facility Use Request” form. This is not required for routine church functions or committee and board meetings. Users should follow the guidelines of Section 3 to 5 of this policy. The sponsor of the event must arrange for an Authorized member to open and close the building and should leave the facility in a condition to require the minimum of custodial attention. Activities that will precede a regular church activity by less than a full day must be coordinated with the custodian.
There are certain uses or activities that are not permitted in connection with facility use. 1. SMOKING: There is to be NO smoking or tobacco chewing in any part of the building or on the church property. 2. ALCOHOL: There are to be no alcoholic beverages of any kind in any part of the building or on the church property. 3. FOOD AND BEVERAGES: No food or beverages may be taken in any part of the building other than the Fellowship Hall unless approved by the Governing Board. 4. RICE: Please do not throw rice. Instead we ask that birdseed be substituted and that it be thrown ONLY outside the building. It is your responsibility to sweep the entryway, as well as outside if birdseed is thrown. 5. BUSINESS USE: Use is not approved by a for-profit organization.
Please remember it is our goal to present a clean and orderly appearance of excellence to the glory of God. These guidelines are given for a consistent maintaining of the building. We greatly appreciate your help in working toward this goal. 1. User will not consume church resources without express permission of the church board. 2. The person or group in charge of the function is responsible for the set up and clean up of the room(s) used. 3. Put all chairs and tables back in their original place. Leave all rooms as you found them. 4. Do not take any food or drink out of the Fellowship Hall except to approved Sunday School classes. 5. If the kitchen is used, all dishes must be washed, dried and put away. Remove all food that has been left over. Wash counters and clean floor. 6. If kitchen supplies are running low, please leave a note on the refrigerator. 7. Pick up trash, clean up spills from drinks or food. 8. Take trash out to the dumpster. 9. When vacating, turn out all lights, close fire doors to separate fellowship hall from narthex and classroom area, check for running water, unplug coffee pots, lock windows and doors. Also, see that computer, sound and projector equipment are turned off. The authorized member is responsible for this. 10. If anything is found not in working order and you cannot fix it, leave a note in the Church Office immediately after your meeting. 11. Only ‘Dry Erase’ type markers are allowed in the building, permanent types stain floors, walls, tables and whiteboards. 12. Only ‘Plastitak’ or other similar pliable, removable, putties designed for the purpose are to be used to fasten paper and other light objects to the walls, ceilings, or furnishings. Pin type clips may be used on the fabric covered walls. 13. Tables and stacks of chairs are not to be dragged across the carpet, but should be carried or wheeled to avoid carpet melting. 14. If food or liquid are spilled, clean it up, no one is assigned to do this for you. 15. Staining liquids should not be brought into the building. 16. A authorized member must be on the premises whenever they are in use. 17. Technical equipment is to be operated only by authorized persons.

Canaan Church has a modern facility with amenities useful for many types of gatherings. We can provide these services:

Custodial care is provided per the fee table to ensure that the facility is in a condition for the next building use following an activity.
