WOULD YOU BENEFIT FROM THE PROTÉGÉ RESIDENCY PROGRAM AT CANAAN?

YES, IF THIS DESCRIBES YOU...

You are graduating from school and considering a call to ministry, but you didn't major in Ministry or Theology.

You are thinking about a seminary degree, but you are not sure how you would apply that degree, or in what area.

You are a Theology or Ministry major and you have discovered that experience is equally important to knowledge for a fruitful ministerial career.

The Protégé Residency is a two-year learning and doing experience for graduates considering a full-time career in ministry.  Housing and a monthly salary are provided.  Students are encouraged to pick a concentration such as Youth Ministry, Family Ministry, Associate Pastor, or Spiritual Formations Ministry.  In the two-year program, the resident may work toward full ordination through the Christian & Missionary Alliance.  The program is done in partnership with our Protégé sister church and the 12 Stone Residency Program.

Why experience your residency at a smaller church like Canaan?

A residence experience at a smaller church isn't for everyone, but when it's the right fit, there's a lot to gain.

Consider this:

  • 90% of churches are less than 110 people, that means there is a high likelihood that you will serve in a smaller church at some point in your ministry.
  • In a smaller church, you're not just one among many.  You are a valued contributor right from the get-go.
  • Small doesn't mean less.  Churches committed to emerging leaders are reaching to the same vision regardless of size.  We hold to the same caliber and curriculum.  It's just that much of that vision is focused squarely on you.
  • An over-all experience.  As a small church minister, you can be called upon to do anything and everything.  (Guess who's mastering this webpage!!)  Our residents will be exposed to all areas of church life to some degree, even as they focus on their primary ministries.
  • An opportunity to innovate.  Canaan possesses an innovative mindset.  As we discern God's leading, we are not afraid to try things.  We're not afraid to let you try either.
